TJ Lewis

Briefly describe how you accepted Christ?

I was 7 years old and it was Easter Sunday night. When we returned to church that night, I remember the pastor saying “I know we talked about the cross this morning, but I really feel the need to talk about it again this evening.” I hadn’t paid attention at all that morning, because I was excited about candy and a new Ninja Turtle toy. He shared almost the exact same sermon from that morning, and thank God, I was listening this time. My mom wouldn’t let me go down the aisle during the invitation, because I was an ADHD maniac that liked to talk, but as soon as the closing prayer was done, I chased Pastor down and he led me to the Lord. I’m still an ADHD maniac, but I’ve been trying to follow Jesus well ever since.

What do you do at LABC?

I’m the youth pastor.

What was the first album you bought?

Pretty sure the first album I bought with my own money was DC Talk’s Jesus Freak. I’ve bought it on tape, CD, and iTunes now.

What is your favorite restaurant?

Anywhere that serves lots of meat. Buffalo Wild Wings is a favorite, though TJ’s Catfish and Wings is quickly moving into first place.

What is your favorite verse and why?

1 Corinthians 6:19b-20a and Gal. 2:20…it looks like this. “Your life is not your own. You were bought with a high price….I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ that lives within me. And this life I live in the body, I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” I try to remind myself of this truth often. I’m not here for myself.

What is your favorite worship album?

Shane and Shane’s “Psalms Vol. 2” album encourages and challenges my soul so much.

What is your proudest moment?

The fact that Bekah still chooses to love me everyday is amazing and seeing my kids grow in their skills and personalities is just stinking fun. I’m so thankful and proud of them. Any time I get asked to do a wedding is special and seeing students I’ve taught leave home and still follow Jesus in college and beyond is incredible too.

What are your favorite sports teams?

Rangers, Cowboys, Mavs, and whatever team my kids and students are playing on.
